Recovery from new or old injury, post-op rehab, strengthening. This is specialized care from a licensed physical therapist and my be covered under "out of network" insurance benefits. Payment is due at the time of service, however it may be reimbursable if you submit it to your insurance.

Pointe Safe was developed to share a system of proven safe advancement of pointe work from the field of Dance Medicine. This rigorous 8 week live-online course is packed with explanations of the standard tests, teaches anatomy relevant to each test, covers common injuries and anatomical placement corrections, and supplemental exercises for students struggling to pass. You will gain the confidence to know when to refer a student to a physical therapist, physician or other dance medicine specialist. Materials are also provided to assist your implementation of the program in your class. You will also have a one hour one-on-one meeting with Kendall Alway, PT, DPT to review your evaluation. A certification through Pointe Safe also means joining our community forum, becoming featured as a certified teacher on our website and exclusive use of the Pointe Safe Certified Teacher logo.

Kendall is a former professional dancer with over 20 years of ballet training. She has been a licensed physical therapist since 2001 and is the owner of SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy. She is also the former director of the ODC Healthy Dancers’ Clinic. Additionally, she is an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF. She has presented at the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS), Harvard University’s Spaulding Rehab Hospital, and at the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA). She is the former Informational Papers chair for the Dance USA Taskforce on Dancers’ Health and an electives instructor in Dance Medicine for the UCSF PT Department. Kendall has had the honor and privilege of treating dancers from most of the major dance companies in San Francisco. Ariell Gross, PT, DPT is a Bay Area native, she attended UC Santa Cruz for her undergraduate education, and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in 2021. Ariell has experience providing physical therapy services to professional, recreational, and adolescent dancers as well as other performance artists and athletes. She is proud to offer up-to-date, evidence-based treatment methods while also working in partnership with each patient to create an individualized and successful plan of care. She has training in strength and conditioning concepts which she uses to help people rehab from injuries as well as improve their athletic capacity. Ariell has over 20 years of dance experience including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and belly dance. Her current exercise routine involves strength training, jogging, fusion belly dance and hip hop classes, and hiking.
